I've posted about various little places we've found before, but todays is Winterbourne House and Garden. It's about a 10 minute bus drive from Moore Street (number 98) to the University at Edgebaston.
It's only been open to the public for about 5 years, and is an amazingly tranquil place - not huge but more than worth looking at if you're passing. The house and gardens are immaculate and every plant has a label. It also has a tea room!

The nut walk
The start of a small Japanese garden. We visited in mid September, and in a couple more weeks I imagine the acers will be glorious. I also liked the fact that you could walk on the stepping stones across the water. These things are usually out of bounds!
The house is arts and crafts. I especially liked the nursery.
Finally, some books which I had a quick look at...fascinating. I especially liked the pattern for a knitted corset cover, which is not for storage as you'd think, but is worn over the corset - it looked very thick and itchy.
